The Golden State Warriors have begun preparations for next season, scheduling workout sessions with college players. The team management seems to be exploring strategic loopholes in the squad and their options for the 11th pick in the upcoming NBA draft. Meanwhile, ESPN analyst Anthony Slater has suggested some picks for the team.
The Warriors faced significant injury concerns when Jimmy Butler suffered a season-ending ACL tear, and Steph Curry missed several games due to a knee injury. Moreover, Jonathan Kuminga’s trade widened the gap in the offense, especially in perimeter shooting.
Given the Warriors’ roster demands for the next season, the ESPN analyst suggested multiple options. Let’s see the top three picks for the team.
#1. Yaxel Lendeborg
Averaging 15.1 points per game, shooting 37.2% from deep, Lendeborg is one of the most fitting pieces for the Warriors’ roster. Kuminga’s trade left a hole in the team’s offensive core and seriously hampered its defense. Meanwhile, the wing from the Michigan Wolverines has showcased impressive work on offense, getting to the rim and shooting from deep.
However, there are two issues. First, several analysts have highlighted that Lendeborg might have hit his developmental ceiling, and drafting a young rookie would be better for his development and fit in the long run. Second, it’s highly uncertain that the Wolverines wing would be available that late in the first round. However, if everything aligns, it could be a real steal for the Warriors.
#2. Brayden Burries
The Arizona Wildcats guard will be one of the most eye-catching prospects on draft night. He averaged 16.1 ppg, shooting an elite 39.1% from deep in the 2025-26 NCAA season. Interestingly, Burries earlier declined to work out with a few teams like the Sacramento Kings, clarifying his priorities in the league. Some believe that the Dallas Mavericks, who are slated to pick ninth, might be his preferred destination.
However, his perimeter shooting might be a big addition to the Warriors. Even though Brandin Podziemski took up the responsibility in the absence of Steph Curry, an efficient guard like Burries can give head coach Steve Kerr some crucial minutes off the bench.
#3. Hannes Steinbach
Developing their frontcourt should be the Warriors’ top priority in the upcoming draft and offseason period. And if there is someone who can address the team’s needs in that position, it’s Hannes Steinbach. Averaging 18.5 points, 11.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.2 blocks last season, he can add some serious firepower to both ends of the floor.
A versatile and strong big man, Steinbach is explosive on the rim and can be a perfect pick-and-roll partner to Steph Curry. His speed and playmaking are underrated, as he can be part of important plays like Draymond Green. Moreover, the Warriors’ existing centers, Green and Porzingis, are currently awaiting contract extensions from the team.
