ESPN analyst Shams Charania participated in the 2026 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game today at Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, and was under scrutiny for his lackluster debut on the court. The All-Star weekend has kicked off with Team Giannis taking on Team Anthony, and Team Giannis won the matchup 65-58. And fans were locked in on the nail-biting finish.
Getting a taste of his own medicine, Charania, who was part of Team Giannis, contributed little to the win and finished with 0-0-0 and 3 turnovers. Just like every other Shams Charania update getting viral on social media, his debut numbers were all over the internet. A parody account shared his statline on X:
Fans had a field day, ripping Charania for his dismal showing on the court, as one fan said:
“More Gianni’s trade rumors in the drafts than points”
Apparently, Charania’s lack of interest in playing ball was visible during the game as well, as he was seen engrossed in his smartphone, standing courtside. It looked like another breaking news from the NBA was taking shape.
A user wrote, along with Shams’ picture during the game:
“Shams had more text messages sent than FGs made at the Celebrity Game”
Another fan quipped at the ESPN analyst and said:
“Shams is so a*s at both in trade rumors AND on the court”
Another fan wrote:
“He really played a whole game with 0 assists to himself for a scoop professional.”
Another fan took a dig at Shams Charania and wrote:
“Breaking News: League sources tell me that ESPN is cutting Shams after his no show, sorry ass performance tonight.”

The ESPN analyst and the Bucks franchise have been seemingly involved in a little beef after Milwaukee fans trolled Charania for posting trade-rumor updates about Giannis on social media.
The team HC Doc Rivers also did not miss the opportunity to take a shot at the high-profile insider at the press conference and said that the 2-time NBA MVP, the coach for Team Giannis, wanted to trade Charania to the other Celebrity Game team.
“He cannot hoop,” Giannis Antetokounmpo gives his verdict on Shams Charania
Giannis Antetokounmpo was a hot topic during the 2025-26 NBA midseason trade period, as sources suggested that he might finally make a move after 13 years with the Bucks franchise. However, at the end of the period, he wasn’t traded, and fans put ESPN analyst Shams Charania on the stand for the credibility of his reports.
The Greek Freak kept the little feud alive and hilariously took some shots at Charania’s on-court skills. Before the game began, the head coach for Team Giannis expressed his lack of faith in the Senior NBA analyst. He said:
““You know why it’s not fair? Because I have Shams on my team. He cannot hoop. But, everybody else can hoop.”
The NBA All-Star Celebrity Game was an entertainment fair for fans, as the weekend moves to more fun-filled sections like the dunk contest and the All-Star game on Sunday.
