The New York Knicks’ Game 3 loss to the Atlanta Hawks has drawn multiple criticisms from across the league, and now Mike Brown has caught fire. Knicks center Mitchell Robinson’s trainer, Marcell Scott, gave a controversial statement on his Instagram story. He claimed that the Knicks’ head coach was too “nice” to coach the team.
HC Brown’s roster decisions have been debated for a long time, as he decided to play lineups without Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns at the start of the 4th and 5th quarters. Moreover, Robinson’s trainer argued that the size of the starting lineup could be altered by adding Robinson and playing KAT at No. 4.
On his Instagram story, Scott wrote:
“Knicks coach Mike Brown is SCARED to get mad!!! He’s too nice of a guy to coach the Knicks!!! He would rather play OG at the 5, instead of KAT and Mitch at the 4 and 5. nice guys finish last coach! GN”
Mitchell Robinson played 11 minutes and scored two points, four rebounds, and one steal in the last game. However, in Game 2, he led the bench with 13 points, seven rebounds, one steal, and one block in 18 minutes.
Defensively, Robinson has been a menace on the board and adds to the overall length. After trailing the series 1-2, Brown might be pressured to make some important changes to the roster.
“Stuff is going to happen,” Mike Brown stays calm after the Knicks’ Game 3 loss
Mike Brown did not seem worried about the Knicks’ loss and said that it was a long series. Mikal Bridges did not score a single point after missing three attempts in 21 minutes. While a lot might be going on in his head, Brown seemed calm on the outside and said:
“I told them it’s a seven-game series for a reason. Stuff is going to happen. There are plenty of teams that have been 1-2. I even think OKC was down 1-2 last year. I’m not saying we’re going to win it, but you take one game at a time.”
The Knicks will have to come up with a plan to penetrate the Hawks’ defense and move the ball better. Brown might make some changes to the starting lineup to experiment with the combination. They will now meet on April 25 for Game 4.
