Karl-Anthony Towns Has No Intentions Of Getting Traded From Knicks Amid Scapegoat Prediction: Report

Karl-Anthony Towns’ offensive production has been a constant discussion among New York Knicks fans during the 2025-26 season. After beginning Round 1 of the postseason against the Atlanta Hawks with a win, the Knicks are 1-1 after losing a close second game. Amid this, there were rumors that the team might make KAT the scapegoat if they fail to come out of the East as victors. However, the latest updates have flipped the picture!

Towns was the difference maker in Game 2. While every starter scored in double digits, like the last game, the forward scored just 18 points, compared to Game 1, where he added 23. After ESPN Senior Writer Vincent Goodwill reported that the team was planning to make him a scapegoat, the analyst mentioned in another report that he wanted to stay put with the Knicks.

As per Goodwill, Towns wanted to make things work in New York and be “a Knick for life.” Fullcourtpass wrote on X:

Karl-Anthony Towns wants to be a New York Knick for life, per @VinceGoodwill

“He so badly wants things to work here””

The Knicks have not looked very comfortable in the playoffs. The next game will set the tone for the series from hereon, and a loss will be detrimental to their chances. Although KAT was selected as a reserve in the 2025-26 All-Star, he has not shot the ball as well as his resume suggests.

Given that he will be worth $60 million next year, the Knicks might look to offload his contract and add a reliable offensive piece to help space the floor with Jalen Brunson. Maybe somebody like Giannis Antetokounmpo!

Karl-Anthony Towns and the Knicks will look to regain advantage in Game 3

Jalen Brunson led the New York Knicks with 29 points and seven assists, and Josh Hart was at his best, scoring a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. However, the Knicks lost 106-107 to the Hawks, who faced several roster changes and struggles during the regular season.

Even though Karl-Anthony Towns has been the focus of the discussion in New York, it was Mikal Bridges on the last play who missed the baseline jumper in the final seconds. The Knicks had a golden opportunity to win the game after CJ McCollum, who led the Hawks with 32 points and six assists, missed both free throws with 5.6 seconds on the clock. However, Bridges could not cash it over Jalen Johnson.

Giannis has already made his wish to move to New York clear, and given the Milwaukee Bucks’ situation, it looks like they will look for a destination for the Greek Freak. That may make things difficult for Towns. The Hawks will be back home at State Farm Arena to pose a challenge to the Knicks, but a win is of utmost importance for the away team. It will be a battle of grit in Atlanta today!
