LiAngelo Ball’s New Song “Backyard” Has Lonzo Ball Losing It Shirtless with Afro Look in Epic Promo Dance

LiAngelo Ball’s new song, “Backyard Ball,” caught the attention of fans and his brother, NBA guard Lonzo Ball, who was seen dancing to the song on social media.

In a now-deleted video shared to Instagram, Ball showed himself sporting his signature afro and recorded himself shirtless jamming out to his brother’s new song. Here’s a look at the video:

LiAngelo Ball’s new single, “Backyard Ball,” includes numerous basketball references and is a follow-up to his first studio album, “League of My Own,” released in 2025. The song was released on Tuesday to a positive reception from fans on social media.

Ball relentlessly pursued a career in the NBA, even playing in the G League before pivoting to music in late 2024. His viral track “Tweaker,” released in January 2025, led Ball to sign a deal with Def Jam and Universal Music, which, according to multiple reports, is worth $13 million.

“I always told myself I would be great at something, even if the hoops don’t work,” Ball told Billboard. “I just never knew it would be rap, and I just ran with it.”

LiAngelo is not the only artist in the family, as his older brother Lonzo also dabbled in music. He released a rap mixtape titled “Born 2 Ball” in 2018, followed by a single named “ZO2” in 2021.

“Learned the whole verse”: LiAngelo Ball reacts to Lonzo Ball’s social media post on his new track

His deleted video from Tuesday is not the only media that Lonzo Ball shared to celebrate the release of his brother LiAngelo’s new song. On Feb. 17, the NBA guard posted a snippet of the song over a video of himself rapping his brother’s verse.

LiAngelo Ball reacted to the clip, sharing his shock at how quickly Lonzo memorized the whole verse.

“Gang learned the whole verse already,” LiAngelo said.

Lonzo Ball was traded to the Utah Jazz ahead of the Feb. 5 deadline and was waived, leaving him without a team to end the 2025-26 season. With 20 games to play, he could attract interest from contenders ahead of the playoffs.

He played 35 games this season, averaging 4.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.
