The LeBron James and Michael Jordan debate takes a new turn now and then, but this time, the King himself has addressed the comparison. Several analysts and fans on social media have had their say and side in this debate and have passionately backed their favorite stars. When James was asked about his thoughts on the rivalry, he was candid.
Jordan has also faced such questions several times in his interviews and conversations with media personalities. The 6-time NBA champion has maintained that he didn’t believe in the concept of having one Greatest of All Time player and that others have also contributed to the sport in different ways.
On X, a user shared James’ latest statement on the highly-debated comparison, via ESPN analyst Dave McMenamin, that read:
“There are a lot of things that MJ did better than I do. And I think there are some things that I do better than him. That’s just how the game goes.”
James added:
“I am a 1-of-1 player. And, MJ as well… I have always looked for the pass… He looked for the shot. There are a lot of things where I would say my game is a lot different and a little better than his, but s—, he was f–ing great. We’re both great.”
Michael Jordan played as a shooting guard and scorer. Even though he was not a pass-first guard, his ability to create shots and come up big in clutch moments made him a cut above the rest. Moreover, his defense was the icing on the cake, as he averaged 2.3 steals in his career. That’s elite!
“This about to flood twitter with tears,” Fans react to LeBron James’ comments on the GOAT debate
LeBron James was right when he said that he was more of a forward-point player, as he averages 7.4 assists in his career compared to MJ, who averaged 5.3. The 4-time NBA champion can facilitate, and his court vision and game IQ are top-notch. He can bring the best out of any offense, which is evident from the Los Angeles Lakers’ current playoff run.
Fans were shocked to see James talk about the subject and speculated that it would get big on social media, as one wrote:
“I haven’t seen this but boy oh boy this about to flood twitter with tears like a mfer …. Get the boats ready ….”
Fans of both sides did not hesitate to point out the bias, as one Jordan fan wrote:
“There is nothing Lebron is better than in basketball skill or talent thats better than Mike.”
Another user backed LBJ and said wrote:
“Someone will find a way to spin this to hate on Bron once again because of course lmaoooo”
Another applauded James for his answer and agreed that there could be multiple legends in a game:
“Great answer…MJ was dominant at his position during his era…LeBron has been dominant at his position during his era…so many legends in the history of the game…”
One user simply called out LeBron James by saying:
“Bron is a Pippen”

The GOAT debate in the NBA is a never-ending affair, and that also gives fans something to talk about the sport. However, both legends have made their feelings clear that there was no single greatest player, and everyone impacted the game in their own way and level.
