Jalen Duren has caught a lot of flak on social media for his dismal playoff showing this season, and his former girlfriend, Angel Reese, has made it even worse. Earlier, she posted a video of her current boyfriend and the Orlando Magic center Wendell Carter Jr., dunking on Duren in Game 2. And now, Kevin Durant’s former podcast co-host Eddie Gonzalez has opened up about their situation.
On X, Eddie addressed the Duren-Carter Jr.-Reese tussle after a fan felt pity for the Pistons forward, whose team is down 1-3 in Round 1 and is going through personal humiliation on social media. The fan wrote:
“I cannot imagine the unfathomable pain that is losing money and a playoff series to your ex’s new boyfriend while she flaunts it on social media every night.”
Responding to this, Eddie wrote:
“Tbh he won cuz she supposedly moved on and he still clearly on her mind But she getting the reacts on social I guess”
The former co-host of The ETCs with Kevin Durant seemingly backed Duren and claimed that he won the online war, as Reese was supposedly hung up on her former partner. Whatever the reason, the Pistons are in a problematic spot right now with their face towards the exit gate.
Jalen Duren comes up short in his matchup with Wendell Carter Jr.
Jalen Duren received his first All-Star nod after a stellar regular season that put his team at the top of the Eastern Conference. However, the playoffs have told a completely different story. He has averaged 9.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game in his matchup with Wendell Carter Jr., who is averaging 11.5 points, 10 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game.
Carter Jr. has evidently been the better one in this matchup thus far. Moreover, Angel Reese’s constant online pokes in connection to Carter Jr. and Duren have made things especially difficult for the Pistons center.
The Pistons will now try to elongate the series with a win in Game 5 on April 29. Meanwhile, the Magic has shown grit and hard work on the floor in this series with their relentless defense and ball hustles. They will look to close Round 1 and get a much-needed break as they have been playing back-to-back since the play-ins.
