Is the 2026 NBA Draft’s Top Pick Really Worth $100M? NBA Insider Reveals Stunning Projection

The 2026 NBA draft will be one of the most anticipated ones in recent years. Fans and analysts look forward to seeing the top collegiate prospects lock horns in the big league. Some even went as far as to claim that the top overall pick might be worth $100 million in the coming seasons.

Darryn Peterson, AJ Dybantsa, and Cameron Boozer will headline the NBA draft coming offseason, and teams have already hoarded their picks to land someone who can fit their rosters. Speaking on The Hoop Collective Podcast, Brian Windhorst said:

“I had an executive tell me that the No. 1 pick this year is worth $100 million. If you gave the opportunity to buy that pick, teams would pay $100 million for it. Keep that in mind when the Jazz were fined $500,000.”

Peterson’s speed and ability to create shots have several scouts believe that he can score 20 points every game right from the get-go. He is averaging 20 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in the 2025-26 season.

Dybantsa, on the other hand, is versatile and can impact the game in multiple ways, averaging 24.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 3.8 assists this season. Cameron Boozer is another big name from Duke, averaging double-double numbers, 22.8 points, 10 rebounds, and 3.9 assists. Others like Caleb Wilson and Darius Acuff have also put the league on notice with their outstanding performances.

NBA set for a wave of talented rookies

The emergence of rookies like Victor Wembanyama, Stephon Castle, Cooper Flagg, and Kon Knueppel in recent years has proved that the future of the NBA is in safe hands. Many, like Wemby and Flagg, have taken the big responsibility right from Day 1, as the teams have seen overnight success with them on the rotation.

On the other hand, players like VJ Edgecomb and Castle have impacted the game in different ways. They have created much-needed opportunities in clutch situations and helped their teams get an upper hand.

With the influx of more talent in the NBA, the next few seasons will see several rivalries brewing and taking on each other.
