Is Adam Silver on the Board of Trustees of the Rockefeller Foundation? NBA Commissioner’s Ties to Anti-Israel Causes Explored

The NBA world has been rocked with controversies lately, and the latest one has caught the NBA Commissioner Adam Silver’s name. His name has reportedly come up on the board of trustees for the Rockefeller Foundation, which has raised a lot of questions on social media.

What is NBA Commissioner Adam Silver’s connection to the Rockefeller Foundation?

The Rockefeller Foundation is one of the most reputable organizations in social work, but there has been confusion over the foundation’s finances and alleged involvement in questionable experiments.

However, it’s the Rockefeller Brothers Fund that has reportedly funded several organizations that have raised voices for the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement and not the Rockefeller Foundation. They are two separate organizations.

The Rockefeller Foundation was established in 1913 by John D. Rockefeller Sr, while the Rockefeller Brothers Fund was founded in 1940 by his grandsons.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver is a trustee on the Rockefeller Foundation, which has no involvement in funding the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement. However, due to the two foundations’ sharing a name and family lineage, it confused fans.

Here’s what one user on X said:

“NBA Commissioner Adam Silver is a Rockefeller Foundation trustee
That explains a lot about the NBA”

The user’s caption was derived from several controversies the NBA has been caught up in with its statements regarding the Israel-Palestine unrest. In 2017, the league issued an apology after an Israeli Sports Minister, Miri Regev, wrote an open letter to the NBA Commissioner raising his concerns after the league used the term “Palestine-occupied territory.”

Regev called Palestine an “imaginary ‘state'” after which the league issued an apology, stating:

We do not produce the country listings for NBA.com, and as soon as we became aware of it, the site was updated. We apologize for this oversight and have corrected it.”

Besides the allegations against Adam Silver, the Memphis Grizzlies owner, Robert Pera, and his company, Ubiquity, were also reported to be connected with supplying drones to the Russian army.

Meanwhile, the NBA is back with the regular season after the All-Star weekend came to an end recently. The teams look to frame their strategies for the upcoming playoffs and will try to make a final push to the postseason.
