Is Kyrie Irving Playing This Season? Mavs Superstar Teases Major Update

Kyrie Irving was reported to be out for the season due to his ACL injury, and the Dallas Mavericks have taken a back seat this season due to a lack of hands in the roster. However, the Mavericks guard recently shared a positive update about his health that might excite Mavs fans.

Irving was a major offensive weapon in the 2023-24 season when the team made a Finals run. They are 12th in the Western Conference this season and need serious rescuing if they want to make a playoff run. After the front office decided to trade Anthony Davis, Irving’s return has become even more crucial.

While a lot of important offensive pieces like Steph Curry, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and others are set to be evaluated after the All-Star break, Irving has also shared about a similar possibility. He said:

“I’ll give you guys an update after the All-Star break.”

Irving’s return might fill the gap that a lack of a point guard has created in the team’s offense. He averaged 24.7 points, scoring 40.1% from deep in the 2024-2025 season, and might fit the front office’s plans to rebuild.

Can Kyrie Irving be part of the Mavericks’ rebuilding?

Cooper Flagg has been a solid find by the Dallas Mavericks this season. The Maine native has had a Rookie of the Year season, averaging 20.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.1 assists. Kyrie Irving’s return to the roster can give a veteran presence and a helping hand on the offense. He can create his own shots and is one of the best ball operators in the league.

After Anthony Davis’ trade, the Mavs front office has hoarded assets this mid-season trade period and can use them in the offseason. With Irving’s return to the roster, the front office might be relieved before the play-ins finally set in for the 2025-26 season.
