“He’s Steph Curry For a Reason”: Steve Kerr Drops Cold Statement on Warriors Superstar’s Dominant Return Despite Loss

Despite the Golden State Warriors’ loss against the Houston Rockets on Sunday, Steve Kerr’s team is in high spirits as the game marked the return of Steph Curry.

Curry had missed the team’s previous 27 games due to a knee injury, but performed up to expectations on Sunday, finishing the game with 29 points, four assists and two rebounds in 26 minutes. He shot 11-for-21, including 5-for-10 from 3-point range as the Rockets won 117-116.

During a media session after the game, coach Kerr had high praise for Curry, saying his return to the lineup has given the rest of the team confidence.

“I don’t think there’s a tougher defender in the league for him to have his first game against than Amen Thompson,” Kerr said. “Steph looked amazing…His rhythm is our rhythm. There’s a momentum and a confidence. He’s Steph Curry for a reason.”

Curry’s performance even earned praise from his former teammate, Houston Rockets forward Kevin Durant.

“We had the game in control, then they put number 30 in the game. He got them back into it so easily… He looked incredible,” Durant said.

Durant was key for the Rockets in the win, recording 31 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, shooting 10-for-17.

Steph Curry says he and Kristaps Porzingis have “more to prove” after the first game back

While this was Steph Curry’s first game back from injury, it was also the first time he got to share the court with Kristaps Porzingis since the Warriors traded for him ahead of the Feb. 5 deadline.

Curry spoke about his first time playing alongside the 7-foot-2 center, saying they have more to prove as a duo.

“I thought we have a lot more to prove out there,” Curry said. “I know he was in foul trouble the whole night, but there were a couple of possessions they tried to blitz me, you know, get somebody in the pocket. KP’s spacing the floor, the defense has to make a decision, so more of those reps will be great for not just him and me, but for all of us to continue to build chemistry.”

Sunday’s loss saw the Warriors fall to 36-42 for the season. They are 10th in the Western Conference and are on a four-game losing streak. Golden State will return to action on Tuesday to face the Sacramento Kings.
