Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry had a night to remember in his return from a two-month absence. He was able to share the court with his brother Seth Curry as teammates for the first time in their NBA careers.
They had shared the court for just 100 seconds during the Warriors’ preseason in 2013 before Seth was let go, leaving an actual NBA game together as the one thing missing. That finally changed on Sunday, as they took the floor as teammates after 13 years. Even though the Warriors fell 116-115, it was a moment the Curry brothers will never forget.
As per Elias Sports Bureau, Steph Curry and Seth became the first brothers to share the court together in Warriors history and the 41st pair of brothers in NBA history to play on the same team in a game.
“Oh man, that was special,” Curry said on sharing the court with his brother. “We both had a very difficult year, obviously him more than me with injuries. I was joking, calling us the rehab brothers. It’s been like that all year.”
Both brothers missed chunks of time this season. Seth missed the majority of the season with a sciatica injury and an adductor strain, playing only seven games, while Steph missed two months of action with a knee injury, suiting up for 39 games.
“But to have that moment coming out of a timeout and talking about our matchups and I was having flashbacks to Charlottesville Christian in high school my senior year, his sophomore year…So it was, that was a dream come true, to be honest. I haven’t really sunk in yet. Except for getting our luck. Seth is very serious about taking this jersey I have with me.”
Both Currys came off the bench on Sunday, with Steph registering 29 points in 26 minutes, while Seth played 13 minutes, scoring 6 points. The good news is that there are still four more games left in the regular season, giving a few more opportunities for both of them to relive their childhood dreams.
