Warriors vs Thunder Preview and Prediction
Golden State is a desperate team, currently holding the eighth spot with a 32-30 record, just two games ahead of the ninth-place LA Clippers and four games ahead of the 10th-place Portland Trail Blazers. The Warriors have dropped five of their last eight games.
All the while, the Dubs are missing key players like Steph Curry, Moses Moody and Will Richardson due to injury. They are projected to get Kristaps Porzingis and Seth Curry back in the lineup soon, which should add some extra firepower.
That being said, the team is aware of the circumstances and knows they need to stack up more wins to secure a playoff spot. They eked out a surprising 115-113 overtime win over the Houston Rockets on Thursday and will look to maintain that momentum on the road on Saturday.
The Thunder, meanwhile, have been the class of the NBA this season, marauding their way to 49 wins and going 8-2 in their last ten games. In their previous matchup, they bested the New York Knicks 103-100 on Thursday. By just about every metric, the reigning champs look like they’re back to their usual best.
The Thunder will, as always, look to their best players as they try to sweep the season series with the Warriors. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is having yet another impressive season. The 27-year-old scored 26 points in New York despite missing some time with an abdominal injury. SGA also averages an incredible 32 points per game against the Warriors this season.
Prediction
The Dubs have been rather unspectacular for most of the season. They’ve really struggled as an attacking force since losing Steph Curry. Their efforts against the Rockets were admirable, but it’s highly unlikely they can stop the Thunder from sweeping them. The Betters also favor the Thunder to win by 14.5 points and we’re along for the same ride.
Our prediction: Thunder 120 – Warriors 108
