Giannis Antetokounmpo is ready for a new chapter of his NBA career with the Miami Heat after spending 13 seasons in Milwaukee. After a year filled with internal team issues and trades, he decided to try to win a title in a different city and a new atmosphere. In a recent conversation back home in Greece, the superstar forward shared his thoughts on what worries him the most before joining a new team for the first time in his career.
Giannis was drafted by the Bucks in 2013 and evolved into the franchise face, a role that perfectly suited him. The Heat have a different combination and strategies, and the Greek Freak is already figuring out the concerns he might run into as he starts playing with the team.

“I worry about not fitting with the team. Or not being welcomed by the fans. Or not winning a championship. … I just think I’ll go there, be well prepared. I’ll do right by my coaches and teammates. I’ll respect Miami fans. I’ll get to leave my mark on the Miami community. That is very important to me.”
There is no doubt that the 2-time NBA MVP is one of the most likable personalities in the league, and Miami fans would love his presence. Moreover, his impact on any squad and explosiveness are bound to make more fans in a new city.
Meanwhile, the Heat management is looking to add more pieces around the forward and Bam Adebayo, who will lead the offense for the team. LeBron James has been one of the most talked-about prospects.

Even though the rumors of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s trade were floating around on social media for a long time, the superstar had always been positive about living in Milwaukee forever. Though things look different for him after he was traded to the Heat, he still talked highly about his former team.
In the aforementioned interview, the 2021 NBA champion admitted that he was still not fully comfortable in Miami because he spent his entire career in Milwaukee. Expressing his love for the franchise and the city, he added:
“I won’t lie, I don’t feel comfortable. I don’t know the team, but I’m going over there and I will do my best. I’ve been doing this my whole life, and I hope it turns out well. I love the city of Milwaukee. I will love Milwaukee until I die. I bleed purple and green. It’s very simple. They made me who I am today.”
Things will surely settle down once Giannis starts practicing with the team and gets on the floor next season. Before that, the front office would have to bring some efficient shooters around the superstar.
