Throughout the course of his coaching career, Mike Brown has been to Madison Square Garden many times over. Yet, as his New York Knicks march on in the 2026 NBA Finals, the veteran coach couldn’t help but register his awe at the A-list star power surrounding him.
At a media availability this past weekend, the Knicks mentor was giddy with excitement as he talked about meeting Ben Stiller for the first time, calling it a “great day for Mike Brown.” Seeing the clip of Brown’s presser, Stiller tweeted a five-word acknowledgment.
“Great day for Ben Stiller”
Like iconic director Spike Lee, Stiller has proudly worn his Knicks fandom on his sleeve for the past several years. Finding companions in Lee, hip hop star Fat Joe, and award-winning actor Timothee Chalamet, Stiller has relentlessly cheered on the Knicks as they established themselves as a playoff powerhouse.
This past week, the entirety of the Knicks fanbase has been in celebratory mode as the team won Games 1 and 2 in San Antonio. Excitement in New York City is expected to reach a fever pitch as the series shifts to Madison Square Garden.
Even before the Knicks and the Spurs square off on Monday, Game 3 has already made headlines. Between the sky-high ticket prices and U.S. President Donald Trump in attendance, there is plenty of buzz surrounding the first Finals game in New York City since 1999.
Fat Joe Compares Knicks Owner James Dolan to Bruce Wayne, Calls Him “Greatest Team Owner in the Game”
Even as Brown pumped his fists in celebration of his Stiller moment, Fat Joe was also giving quotable quotes at the same presser in MSG.
Sitting alongside fellow hip hop great Jadakiss, the “Lean Back” rapper drew an interesting analogy between the Knicks’ team owner and a renowned comic book hero.
“Shoutout to Mr. Dolan, the greatest team owner in the game. Very misunderstood. They villainize Mr. Dolan, almost like a Bruce Wayne. Like a Batman movie and this is Gotham City.”
Interestingly, Jadakiss and Fat Joe took the opportunity to “request” a spot in the championship parade, in the event that the Knicks put away the Spurs and win their first NBA title in 53 years.
