Knicks Announce “Enhanced Security Measures” for Game 3 in MSG With President Trump in Attendance

New York City has always been known as a hostile sports environment. As Madison Square Garden prepares to host Game 3 of the NBA Finals, there has never been a more urgent need for tight security with Knicks fans all pumped up and U.S. President Donald Trump expected to show up.

On Saturday, the Knicks organization announced the security measures that it would be observing on June 8 as Game 3 emanates from the World’s Most Famous Arena.

“A strict no-bag policy will be in effect, and fans should make every effort to limit personal items to an absolute minimum,” the organization tweeted. “Fans should expect enhanced security measures when entering Madison Square Garden, including TSA-style screening procedures.”

On top of this, fans were requested to come early in order to avoid inconvenience.

“Guests are strongly encouraged to arrive at least two hours before tip-off to allow additional time for screening and entry. Fans are encouraged to review the complete list of prohibited items before arriving…There will be no storage available for prohibited items brought to the venue.”

Though the first two games of the NBA Finals have been held in San Antonio, there is cause for authorities to be extra vigilant, especially in light of an incident outside MSG this weekend.

As Knicks fans celebrated their team’s victory at an NYC watch party, 26 individuals were arrested and an NYPD officer was punched in the midst of crowd control efforts. With the U.S. President pulling up to Madison Square Garden for Game 3, security will be tighter than ever.

Sending a clear message on law and order under his watch, New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani went on X Saturday afternoon to condemn the assault on the NYPD officer after Game 2.

“The assault on an NYPD officer outside Madison Square Garden last night was unacceptable. New Yorkers are rightfully excited about the Knicks’ historic Finals run, and we want fans to celebrate this moment together. There is, however, no place for violence, and no tolerance for attacks on police officers.”

Mamdani, a proud Knicks fan, also thanked the “overwhelming majority of New Yorkers” for celebrating the Game 2 win “responsibly.”
