Bam Adebayo has been subjected to constant criticism by fans since his 83-point outing against the Washington Wizards on March 10. Even though the Miami Heat center broke Kobe Bryant’s record of 81 points in a game, fans weren’t impressed by the manner in which the feat was achieved. And they have once again found a reason to berate the North Carolina native on social media.
A user shared the update on X that the 3-time NBA All-Star has followed former Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant on X. Fans quickly took to the comment section to express their disappointment with Adebayo, as one wrote:
“Bros taunting the dead”
Another fan pointed out Adebayo’s earlier statement about the 5-time NBA champion and questioned:
“didn’t he say kobe was one of his favorite players?? how did it take this long to follow him”
Another fan decided to taunt the Heat center for not winning a playoff series and now being compared to one of the greatest of all time. The user wrote:
“Worst part about this story is dude legit has no accomplishments and is a career loser now being compared to Kobe bc he statpadded. Win a playoff series bam u bum”
Another user commented:
“He gon send “I got you today””
One user expressed shock at the update and wrote:
“This can’t be real lmao”

After receiving widespread criticism from fans and analysts, Bam Adebayo addressed the issues in a media session. He clarified his take on the matter and called out the podcasters and former NBA players for being upset because they didn’t get a chance to “chase the greatness.”
“Blame the [Wizards] head coach,” Bam Adebayo on receiving hate for his fourth-quarter plays
In an interaction with the media, Bam Adebayo called out “couch coaches” for not being in his shoes. He said that, being that close to getting a legendary record, with ample time to play, anybody would have thought of going for the record.
Blaming the Wizards’ head coach for not streamlining the team’s defense on Adebayo, the 2-time Olympic gold medalist said:
“Blame the [Wizards] head coach. I was not the one letting me go 1-on-1 the whole game until I had 70, then you send the double. I had 70 with 9 minutes left in the game. You think I’m not going for it?
lot of people are upset because; if they did play, they never had a chance to get that close to chasing greatness. If you get that close, that’s the point of chasing it: to surpass it. And, some of the people have never played basketball.”
Besides all the criticism, the Miami Heat have now won seven games in a row and would look to carry the momentum to the postseason. Placed in sixth spot in the Eastern Conference, the team will look to grab a playoff spot.
