“Hendrick Needs To Fire Him”: NASCAR Fans Turn On Alex Bowman After Costly Tyler Reddick Contact in North Wilkesboro

Alex Bowman drew backlash for a pit manoeuvre that turned costly at North Wilkesboro Speedway. Bowman tried to pit from the fast lane and swerved in front of Tyler Reddick, causing a contact that spun out both entries.

On Sunday’s Window World 450, Bowman lined up 25th and struggled to make headway. His incident with Reddick occurred during green-flag pit stops, placing teammates Chase Elliott and William Byron two laps down.

They had to use the wave-around rule to gain back a lap, while Bowman ultimately finished 26th. NASCAR shared the moment on X:

Fans didn’t approve of the move and shared their frustrations online. Here are some fan reactions:

Alex Bowman currently stands 13 spots outside the Chase bubble. The Hendrick Motorsports driver faces mounting pressure to perform amidst his vertigo diagnosis. He had to sit out four races this season owing to the issue.

In other news, Joey Logano claimed his maiden win of the season at North Wilkesboro Speedway. Meanwhile, William Byron, Chase Elliott, and Kyle Larson, all finished outside the top-10.

Alex Bowman recently shed light on his contract talks with HMS. The 33-year-old hopes to reprise his seat and remains tight-lipped on a potential exit.

“I don’t feel like I’m racing for my job or anything like that by any means. We’ve had a lot of different conversations and kind of trying to figure out what the best thing to do is. So I would say sooner rather than later for sure,” he said.

Alex Bowman retired from the COTA race due to vertigo symptoms. Justin Allgaier and Anthony Alfredo took over while he was off-duty.

Bowman returned to score two straight podiums at Talladega and Texas before fading to middling results. His most recent top-10 comes from a fifth at Chicagoland Speedway.

The No.48 driver has four top-10s and three DNFs after 16 starts. The last time Bowman had a race win was in the 2024 Chicago Street Race.
