Heather Gibbs opened up on her advice to Samantha Busch after Kyle Busch’s tragic loss. The JGR co-owner shared her interaction on the latest episode of Dale Jr. Download.
Much like Samantha, Heather went through the untimely loss of her husband, Coy Gibbs. The 49-year-old passed away in his sleep on the night his son, Ty Gibbs, clinched the O’Reilly title.
Samantha is going through a similar phase, raising 11-year-old aspiring racer, Brexton Busch. She’s also the proud mother of her 4-year-old, Lennix Key Busch.
“I got to spend time with Samantha a day or so after losing Kyle and I told her, she’s like, “what’s it going to be like?” And I’m like it absolutely sucks. It’s awful. And and my heart broke so much but I said your your kids are going to watch you and you’re going to find strength,” Gibbs said. [1:00:39 onwards]
“You’re not going to have it on your own. You have to have a relationship with the Lord. You have to trust in him because he’s going to sustain you no matter how upset you are with him right now. And it’s okay because we were made to have emotions. But he’s going to walk with you through the darkest moments,” she added.
Heather Gibbs recently broke down and embraced Ty Gibbs after his maiden Cup win at Bristol. In the aforementioned episode, she called it a bittersweet moment without her late husband.
Samantha, meanwhile, attended Brexton’s first race after Kyle Busch’s passing at the Charlotte Summer Shootout. She later shared an Instagram post and called it a ‘heartbreaking’ and ‘beautiful’ moment to watch him race.
Notably, Brexton drove the No.18 legend car in honour of his late father. He also waved the green and checkered flag as Busch’s father, Tom Busch, led the field in a ceremonial lap.
Samantha Busch shares daughter’s heartwarming breakfast tradition with Kyle Busch

Samantha Busch recently shared an Instagram story featuring her daughter Lennix Key’s breakfast tradition. The image captured Lennix having her meal in front of two Kyle Busch portraits.
Samantha explained the moment with a wholesome caption:
“Morning breakfast with Daddy. She wakes up every day, tells him how her sleep was, what she’s doing today and asks if he’s having fun in heaven.”
Kyle Busch passed away from severe bacterial pneumonia and complications with sepsis. The two-time Cup champion leaves behind a storied legacy with 234 wins across all three national series.
Busch’s career was honoured with a bipartisan resolution in the Senate. Dale Earnhardt and Jimmie Johnson were the last drivers to get such a recognition.
Busch’s last win came in the Truck Series race at Dover Motor Speedway, where he shared the victory lane celebration with his daughter.
