Greg Biffle’s 112-foot yacht Checkered Past is sitting tied to a dock at Daytona Marina and Boat Works as the former NASCAR Cup driver’s estate seeks a buyer following Biffle’s fatal plane crash in December.
Biffle lost his life in a tragic accident last month. His Cessna C550 went down shortly after take-off from Statesville, North Carolina, and left no survivors. It killed his immediate family members, including wife, Christina and their five-year-old son. Biffle’s 14-year-old daughter Emma and three others on board were also killed.
Biffle purchased the Westport yacht in 2022 to replace his previous 76-foot Lazzara named In Too Deep. He planned to offer Checkered Past for charter and make the yacht available to vacation guests and to help cover operating costs.
But the Westport 112 model, which was built in 1999 and refitted in 2014, is now listed for an asking price of $4,395,000. It measures 34.14 meters and has a 24-foot beam. The yacht sleeps eight guests across four staterooms and carries four crew. The brokerage listing on Frazer Yachts shows the full specs.
“Bought My First Boat When I Was 16” – Greg Biffle Had An Appetite For Everything Outdoors
Greg Biffle had a fierce competitiveness with a generous personality. He loved engines and also the water, being raised in Camas, Washington, and he worked on his boats himself. He owned luxury yachts, planes and helicopters. Biffle also used his skills and machines for rescue work during Hurricane Helene in September 2024 and piloted his helicopter to deliver supplies and evacuate stranded people.
In a 2022 interview, he commented on his love for boating being an outdoors guy.
“I bought my first boat when I was 16. I never thought I’d be able to buy one. This is truly the boat,” Greg Biffle said about Checkered Past.
“I’m an active boater. I love being a part of it. Part of the enjoyment is working on the boat,” he added.
Biffle’s wife also helped the 19-time NASCAR Cup winner in his efforts. Days before the flight, Cristina Grossu also mailed more than 1,000 Santa letters to children in need.
Meanwhile, a public memorial service to honor Biffle, his wife Cristina, their children, and the other victims of the December 18 plane crash is now scheduled for January 16 at Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina. The event will begin in the morning and will also be streamed live for those who cannot attend in person.
Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are still investigating the cause of the accident. The federal agency recovered flight instruments and sent it to their headquarters in Washington D.C to review data. A preliminary report is expected by end of this month, while a final report may take 12-24 months.
