Josh Berry was a frustrated man after Sunday’s Window World 450 at North Wilkesboro Speedway. The Wood Brothers Racing driver got wrecked after running in the top 15.
Berry lined up 28th for the 450-lap event and reached P17 by Stage 1. He got caught up in a caution during green flag pit stops and dropped two laps. Despite getting a wave around, the No.21 team was still a lap down.
Christopher Bell, who was also racing behind the lead pack, got loose over Turn 3 and doored Berry. The No.21 driver spun out and suffered a pretty hard hit into the outside wall, essentially ending his day at the short track.
NASCAR reporter Joseph Srigley shared Berry’s take on his season so far.
“I don’t know, it’s tough. I feel like I’ve worked my whole life to get in this position,” said Berry ,”and now I feel like people view me completely differently after this year, compared to what I’ve done up to this point. Like I’ve said, I’ve never lived through a season like this, when it’s just one thing after another – things that people don’t see, and they don’t make it on TV, and I don’t go on social media every week and post about every little thing that went wrong in our race. We just can’t catch a break, flat out.”
Josh Berry mentioned how he had top-5 pace in practice and missed his chance in the rained-out qualifying.
“it’s just one thing after another, it’s certainly discouraging,” the WBR driver concluded.
The result marks Josh Berry’s fifth DNF in 21 starts. He currently ranks 33rd in the standings with a pair of top-10s to his name. Berry looks at a bleak future without a seat for next season. He’s being replaced by reigning O’Reilly champion Jesse Love.
Josh Berry shares ‘aggravated’ reaction to Christopher Bell’s contact
Josh Berry didn’t mince words on his run-in with Christopher Bell. The JGR driver recovered to finish inside the top-20, while Berry’s Ford teammate Joey Logano won the race.
“It looked like the No. 20 just got loose, chased it up into us, and we wrecked….I’m aggravated at the No. 20, but he’s in the same position as I am and he was back there and just got loose,” He said via aforementioned source.
Josh Berry joined Wood Brothers Racing in 2025 and nabbed their 101st Cup Series win at Las Vegas. The grassroots veteran made the playoffs and suffered through a wreck-filled postseason.
Berry landed three-straight DNFs in the Round of 16 to make an early exit. He then bounced back to finish runner-up at New Hampshire and ultimately finished 16th in points, marking an 11-spot jump from his 2024 season with Stewart-Haas Racing.
