Denny Hamlin Takes A Dig At Carson Hocevar’s “Craftsmanship” Following Late Race Atlanta Move

NASCAR Cup Series driver Denny Hamlin feels Carson Hocevar’s aggressive driving style could someday get the Spire Motorsports standout into trouble. Hamlin’s comments surfaced on the Actions Detrimental podcast just days after the Autotrader 400 at EchoPark Speedway, which 23XI Racing’s Tyler Reddick won.

Hocevar was involved in a series of on-track incidents with fellow Cup Series drivers Christopher Bell, Joey Logano, and Ryan Blaney. Well, Hocevar apologised over the team radio for spinning out Logano and for running Blaney up into the fence.

Still, Hamlin didn’t pull any punches while calling out Hocevar on his show. Addressing Hocevar’s driving style, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver said,

“As a competitor, it’s going to come back around. He’ll be in a position where he thinks he’s about to win and then someone will decide that he’s not going to, and that’s gonna suck. You’re just never gonna get anyone to give you a break.”

“Those are not the moves that you have to make to win the race these days,” Hamlin continued. “I think he’s missing a little bit of the craftsmanship of winning these races beyond just having a fast car.”

While Hocevar bagged a P4, his first top-five finish of the season, Denny Hamlin had to settle for a disappointing P27. Reddick won, leading 53 laps in total, followed by Chase Briscoe, Ross Chastain, Hocevar, and Daniel Suarez. The remainder of the top-10 were rounded off by Shane van Gisbergen, Zane Smith, Bubba Wallace, Ryan Preece, and Ran Blaney.

Next up is the DuraMax Texas Grand Prix Powered by RelaDyne this coming Sunday, March 1, at Circuit of The Americas. Fans can watch the race live on FOX, or listen to live radio updates on PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, starting at 3:30 pm ET.

House Fire That Killed Denny Hamlin’s Ailing Father Ruled “Accidental”

Last December, NASCAR veteran Denny Hamlin lost his father, Dennis, to a tragic house fire at their two-storied home near Stanley, which is about 20 miles northwest of Charlotte. It also left Hamlin’s mother, Mary Lou, critically injured.

That being said, the Gaston County Emergency Management & Fire Services has released a report regarding the ongoing investigation. The fire has been ruled “accidental”, although the actual cause of ignition is yet to be determined.

As per the official report (via Autoweek),

“The cause of the December 28 fire couldn’t be determined and, therefore, it was accidental. The fire, which began in a bedroom, destroyed the house, causing more than $776,000 in property damage, the report stated.”

It took the firefighters about two hours to tackle the fire. By the time they arrived, 45% of the house was already burnt down. Hamlin’s parents were rushed to Caromont Regional Medical Center, where Dennis succumbed to his injuries.
