Bowman Gray Update: NASCAR Reschedules Clash As Winston-Salem Continues Storm Recovery

NASCAR had decided to postpone the 2026 Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray from Sunday, February 1, to Monday. But it seems like fans will have to wait longer to watch the 200-lap exhibition event.

The winter storm that was supposed to bring only a couple of inches of snow to the Charlotte area (as per the sanctioning body) can metamorphose into one of the biggest snowstorms witnessed by the people of North Carolina. So, NASCAR had to delay its lone preseason race by another two days, scheduling it for Wednesday, February 4.

Reflecting on the same, Clash manager Justin Swilling said:

“It’s going to take a day or two to get the industry out of the snow that they’re found in the greater Charlotte area and get them up here. It’s going to take us a few days to get the stadium cleaned off. The city felt that responsibility as well.”

“The state was supportive of saying it’s not good to have people on the roads right now, try to stay home if you can, but when things warm up, hopefully earlier in this coming week, we’ll get to a really good place,” he added.

As reported by Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports, practice and qualifying are scheduled for 1:30 pm ET on the Fox Sports mobile app and FOX One. The official FOX coverage will start at 4:30 pm for the Last Chance Qualifier, followed by the main event of the night at 6 pm ET.

While Winston-Salem got about eight inches of snow on Saturday, Charlotte, where most NASCAR teams are based, got about 10 to 15 inches of snow. Notably, that’s one of the top-five highest snowfalls (happening on a single day) in the history of the city.

The focus is now on cleaning up the historic quarter-mile track so that the teams, drivers, and fans can get to it safely.

NASCAR Makes Good With Fans Ahead of the 2026 Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray

Shortly after announcing the postponements, NASCAR deemed it necessary to generate refunds for fans who would not be able to show up for the 2026 Cook Out Clash at Winston-Salem’s Bowman Gray Stadium. As per the latest news, fans can also opt for a 120 percent credit for any future NASCAR event.

To receive a full refund or a credit, the original account holder, who originally bought the tickets, will need to submit a “website request form” within two weeks of the event. After that, an agent will reach out to the user and guide them from there.

Furthermore, if the user doesn’t submit the form and fails to make Wednesday’s event as well, the 120 percent credit will be applied automatically, which can be used for any future NASCAR event, except for the 68th Daytona 500 and the NASCAR championship race at Homestead-Miami. However, if the tickets are used, no credit or refund will be generated.

All eyes are now on the upcoming Cook Out Clash exhibition at Bowman-Gray Stadium, which Hendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott won last year. Fans can watch the race live on FOX or listen to exclusive radio updates on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, starting at 6 pm ET.
