Mike Tomlin has been one of the more successful coaches of the current generation, who recently retired after spending 19 seasons as the Pittsburgh Steelers, which ended with an overall 193–114–2 regular-season record.
After Mike hung up his shoes post the 2025 season, many fans were asking his son, Dino, why he isn’t using his family name to coach in the NFL.
Dino Tomlin bluntly said that if he were in the coaching business, he would just be like Lane Kiffin, explaining that he would be lying to all the players.
“This is a spoiled brat kid. Lane Kifflin wins every where he goes.. I don’t know him, but I know he wins.” One fan reacted.
“Dino Tomlin dropping truth bombs: “If I coached, I’d be full Lane Kiffin — lying to players and chasing co-eds nonstop. Honest nepotism dodge or future headline? Steelers fans dodging a bullet.” Another fan wrote.
“Appreciate the honesty but somethings should stay in our heads, and not be made public. He might regret this level of honesty one day.” another fan shared.
“Dino saying if he coached he’d be all Lane Kiffin energy!!! That’s the honest take about not going that route. That’s wild right there.” another fan pointed out.
”That level of honesty about his own revolting lack of character won’t help him but it will certainly save someone from making a huge mistake on him.” another fan highlighted.
Mike Tomlin Weighs In on Potential Future in TV Before Retirement Decision
During his appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show” just a week before the news of his retirement broke the internet, the former Steelers head coach bluntly answered a question about his potential future in television.
“I don’t participate in any of that. I can’t allow myself to. I’m not even really privy to the specifics of what you’re talking about,” Tomlin said. “I just realize it’s a component of what I do and what we do. You better learn to live with it or at least endure it.” Tomlin said.
On March 24th, according to Front Office Sports, Tomlin has reportedly signed a deal with veteran sports media agent Sandy Montag, with Alex Flanagan, who are set to represent him in any negotiations that could take place.
