Miami Hurricanes Football Recruiting: How Good Are Mario Cristobal’s Transfer Portal Additions Ahead of 2026-27 Season?

Mario Cristobal’s Miami Hurricanes had an impressive 2025 season, in which they finally demonstrated they are a national championship-caliber program, although they fell at the last minute against the unstoppable force that was Fernando Mendoza’s Indiana Hoosiers in the title game.

Miami is now undergoing something of a revamp, after many of its star players left via the NFL. Cristobal’s answer to this exodus? The transfer portal, through which he has brought an extraordinary number of 12 players. Here’s the list of the top incoming transfers for Mario Cristobal’s Miami in 2026.

Mario Cristobal challenges the 2026 Miami Hurricanes to go over the hump and win a title

In a recent interview, Mario Cristobal spoke with On3, and he was blunt about the level of success the Miami Hurricanes have achieved under his leadership. Despite being the runner-ups for the national title this past season, he believes that the team hasn’t achieved anything yet. Bluntly, he stated:

“We haven’t done shit. The 2026 Miami Hurricanes haven’t won shit. We haven’t done a thing,”

While Mario Cristobal has certainly turned around the prospects of the Hurricanes, since taking over in 2022, in particular in the last two seasons in which they finished with double-digit wins, this success hasn’t crystallized into championships yet. While Miami won two bowls this 2025 season, the Cotton and Fiesta bowls, on their way to the national title game against Indiana, they lost their previous two bowl appearances under Cristobal in 2024 and 2023.
