Rutgers Scarlet Knights freshman phenom Ace Bailey had a tremendous 2024-25 season. He’s shown immense talent, but where did he get it?

Meet Rutgers Scarlet Knights Star Ace Bailey’s Parents
As Rutgers’ season has come to a close, Bailey will begin preparations for the 2025 NBA Draft in late June.
Along the way, Bailey cemented himself as one of the top freshmen and one of the best shot-makers in all of college basketball. In 30 games played, he averaged 17.6 ppg on 46.0% shooting from the field and 34.6% from beyond the arc. His inefficiency slights came partly due to his high usage on a team with two freshman as their primary scorers.
In addition to scoring the ball, Bailey showed a propensity for mixing it up on the boards, averaging a team-high 7.2 rpg. He also improved on the defensive end of the court as the season progressed, showing more interest as a lengthy wing defender.
Standing 6’10”, 200-pounds, the freshman had to have had some pretty good genes — in fact, both of his parents played college basketball.
His father, Richard Bailey, played for the Houston Cougars, while his mother, Ramika McGee, played for the West Virginia Mountaineers.
It should come as no surprise that their son is Bailey, who, surrounded by basketball his entire life, is extremely comfortable with the ball in his hands, even at his immense height.
Bailey’s aunt also was a hooper. Venus Lacy played basketball at Louisiana Tech University, leading them to the NCAA Women’s Division 1 Championship in 1988.
