After three seasons with the Princeton Tigers, Xaivian Lee is now set to transfer. On Wednesday, April 16, following a visit to the University of Florida, Gainesville, the day before, Xaivian’s agent, George Slangberg of GSL, told On3sports that Xaivian has committed to playing in the 2025–26 season with the Florida Gators.
The experienced 6’4” Canadian-American averaged 12.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game over his three years with Princeton. With 91 total appearances—59 as a starting point guard—and a 35.2% shooting percentage from three-point range, Lee has proven himself a player any team would want.

Why Did Xaivian Lee Choose the Florida Gators Over Others?
Among the other schools he visited—such as St. John’s University and the University of Kansas—Xaivian chose Florida for several reasons. One key factor was the genuine personal interest shown by head coach Todd Golden immediately after Lee entered the portal.

“Coach Golden reach out to me right when I got in the portal while they were in San Antonio for the final four,” Lee shared. “Golden taking the time to try and show his interest meant a lot”
In an interview with The Daily Princetonian, Lee expressed how he felt about joining Florida. “Florida just honestly checked all the boxes. It felt like the perfect fit,” Lee said. “The team has a really good culture, and it’s something I want to be a part of and build on, so I’m super excited for the opportunity.”
How Will Lee Contribute to the Team?
With several key players leaving the Gators, Xaivian is arriving at the perfect time. As a point guard, he is expected to fill the void left by one of the team’s top players, Walter Clayton Jr., helping to maintain continuity in the lineup and sparing the coaching staff the challenge of major reshuffling. Other departing players include Alijah Martin and Will Richard.
Xaivian’s ability to shoot from deep, combined with his scoring, defensive, and rebounding skills, will make him a valuable addition. His partnership with fellow guards Denzel Aberdeen and Isaiah Brown, along with frontcourt players like Micah Handlogten and Thomas Haugh, should make the defending champions top contenders again in 2025–26.
At Florida, Xaivian will continue developing as a point guard, gain greater exposure, and have the opportunity to play in the SEC Tournament—a stepping stone to competing deeper in the NCAA Tournament. Florida’s elite facilities and coaching resources offer him a strong platform to grow.
