Embarrassing Stat from UConn’s Miraculous Win vs Duke Makes Dan Hurley Hide His Face in the Press Conference

Dan Hurley’s UConn just made NCAA history. No team trailing by 15 or more points at halftime in the Elite Eight had ever qualified for the Final Four before Sunday. But UConn pulled off a miraculous 73-72 victory at the very last second. Jon Scheyer and Duke were stranded helpless when Braylon Mullins hit a three-pointer from the logo.

Hurley, post-game, shared how it was a difficult night across the court for both teams to shoot. Especially for UConn, three-point shooting was horrendous most of the game. There was one stat that Hurley learned after the game that embarrassed the UConn head coach.

A reporter told Hurley that UConn started 1-18 from three and then ended the game with 4-5. He highlighted the irony of the game-winner being a logo three. Hurley couldn’t help but laugh while hiding his face behind his hands.

“What the hell did you just say? One for 18? I knew it was bad. I kept asking the assistant coaches and no one would tell me what it was. I knew it was bad,” Hurley laughed, as did the reporters.

Indeed, it was an embarrassing stat but a funny one in hindsight.

Fans React to Poor UConn Stat in the Ridiculous Comeback Win vs Duke

Duke looked in control when it had leads as big as 19 points during the game. However, the second half slipped away from them quickly. Cameron Boozer was at his best again with 27 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. His brother Cayden had 15 points with 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Dame Sarr ended up with 10 points. But it was Cayden’s mistake that led to the turnover, and the rest was history.

For UConn, on the other hand, Tarris Reed Jr. led the court with 26 points and 9 rebounds, with Silas Demary Jr. getting 11 points and Solo Ball and Mullins getting 10 points each.

Fans online also looked at the funny side and celebrated UConn’s win.

“Best coach in the sport,” one fan said.

“Team was built on 3-point shooting and really hasn’t fully come together all season. The final minutes it did and hopefully they can carry that on into the final four. So many good shooters they have that just couldn’t hit the ocean but when the moment mattered the most. They delivered,” another explained.

“UCONN HUSKIES 🔥🔥💙💙🏀🏀💙💙 Men & Women BOTH are in the FINAL FOUR! So proud!” One fan celebrated.
