How Did Dan Hurley and Andrea Hurley Meet?
Dan and Andrea Hurley met at Seton Hall University in the early 1990s and have been together ever since, tying the knot in 1997. From high school gyms in New Jersey to national championship stages, she has been by Hurley’s side through every step of his coaching journey.
Despite being married to one of college basketball’s greatest coaches, she has often joked about her lack of technical knowledge of the game.
“I don’t even know what a screen is,” she once said.
Still, her impact is undeniable. During UConn’s recent tournament run, she even stepped in during a tense moment, holding players back from rushing the court after a big win (a move that may have prevented a technical foul).
Hurley later praised her quick thinking, calling her the “Jersey Boss Lady.”
Meet Dan Hurley’s Children
The Hurleys have two sons, both of whom have carved their own paths while staying close to the game.
Oldest son, Danny Hurley, graduated from Seton Hall and now works in public service, serving as an aide to New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy. He also plays a role in the Hurley Family Foundation, focusing on community initiatives.
Their younger son, Andrew Hurley, followed in his father’s footsteps. He spent four seasons playing at UConn, often appearing in late-game moments during the Huskies’ championship runs. After finishing his playing career, Andrew transitioned into coaching and now serves as a graduate assistant on the UConn staff.
Andrea has also built her own “Ball is Wife” podcast, where she shares insights into life as a coach’s spouse, from the stress of big games to the small moments that keep a team connected.
