Dan Hurley’s wife, Andrea, shared an interesting story that unfolded during UConn’s Final Four showdown against Illinois on Saturday. In an Instagram story, he revealed that he had forgotten to wear his ‘lucky bracelet,’ which he has worn throughout his career.
Andrea dropped the tea on how she went back to the hotel to get Hurley’s lucky beads and returned to the game.
“I actually was going to my seat, and I had to leave the arena, get somebody to send me an unused ticket,” Andrea said. “Parker drove me to the hotel where I had to grab the beads, and I actually had extra beads to just string them. So then, we got a police escort back to the arena to get the beads because the game started.”
After listening to this story, fans on social media shared their reactions while also highlighting Andrea’s love for Dan Hurley.
“Wife deserves a medal for that retrieval mission,” a fan commented.
“Proof there is someone for everyone,” another fan said.
“She deserves a medal for putting up with that jacka**,” this fan wrote.
“Why hasn’t anyone pitched a Hurley reality show on TV like the Osburner? It would be a hit,” a fan questioned.
“He better have them tonight also because if they win that’s what it’s going to be is luck,” another fan commented.
In the end, Dan Hurley and the UConn Huskies secured a 71-62 Final Four victory over the Illinois Fighting Illini. This helped them book their third championship appearance in the last four seasons.
Ex-NBA star Kenny Smith shares his thoughts on Dan Hurley amid his hunt for his third natty with UConn
On “CBS Sports College Basketball,” NBA star-turned-analyst Kenny Smith, on Monday, came forward to talk about Dan Hurley and his stint with UConn. This year, they face the Michigan Wolverines in the season finale, hoping to win their third national championship under his regime.
Smith highlighted how Hurley, who was born in New Jersey, has this motivation to prove himself because of his origin.
“It reminds me of every Jersey City kid,” Smith said. “Like that toughness, because Jersey is always kind of thought of as a little brother of New York City. So those guys were always a little tougher in proving themselves.”
“You couple that with the fact that his brothers had so much success as a college player and his dad as a coach. You have that ‘I have to prove myself’ attitude. … He’s disciplined. And that is the difference between what separates success,” he added.
Hurley led the Huskies to back-to-back national championships in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons. Last year, they qualified for March Madness but were eliminated in the second round by the Florida Gators.
