Dan Hurley’s Wife Andrea Reveals UConn HC’s Another Superstition That Made Her Leave Final Four Game

UConn coach Dan Hurley‘s wife, Andrea, recently shared what he made her do during the Huskies’ Final Four game.

On Saturday, Hurley and his team defeated the Illinois Fighting Illini 71-62 in the NCAA Final Four for a shot at the national title in neutral territory, the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.

In a video on her Instagram stories, Andrea Hurley said she had to leave the said game to retrieve her husband’s beads. This is because Dan Hurley’s beads are one of many superstitions for every game day.

“ Okay, so I got to the arena. My one job was to fix his lucky Jesus bead bracelet… I actually was going to my seat, and I had to leave the arena, get somebody to send me an unused ticket. Parker, love Parker, drove me to the hotel where I had to grab the beads, and then I actually have extra beads to re-string them. So then we got a police escort back. I know, it’s insane,” Andrea Hurley said. (0:15)

“Police escort back to the arena to get the beads because the game started. So I actually was watching, like it was on the TV in the hotel, as I was there. I’m sweating, and I tried to, so this is like all behind. So the beads made it back, thanks to me. But I ran in the rain. That’s why I look crazy,” she concluded.

Hurley and the Huskies won their Final Four matchup by nine points, 71-62, over Coach Brad Underwood’s Fighting Illini. They are now hoping to pull off one last win this season. If they beat Michigan in the final, Hurley and his Connecticut-based program will win their third national title in four years.

Dan Hurley Explained His Beads Superstition While Giving His Point Of View Of The Story

In the same video from Andrea Hurley’s Instagram stories, Dan Hurley explained the reason behind the beads being a superstition.

Hurley detailed that this is a superstition he has followed for over a couple of decades now for every game that he coaches. He also shared his point of view on when Andrea Hurley had to leave the Final Four game momentarily.

“Right before the game’s gonna start, I’ve worn these beads every game I’ve ever coached my whole career, and I noticed that like about, I don’t know, about 12 minutes before the game was gonna start, I had no beads… Since I coached high school 20-plus years ago, no beats. I’m freaking out. Luke calls her from the locker room and says,’You better get those beads here. And, we ended up getting the beads there,” Dan Hurley said. (0:23)
