Tyrese Proctor Drops Duke Mt. Rushmore, Leaves Out Natty-Winning Legend

Tyrese Proctor may have graduated from Duke to bigger and better things, but it’s clear he hasn’t forgotten where he came from. A major component of the program from 2022 to 2025, Proctor took the momentum he had at Duke and turned into an NBA Draft success, being picked up 49th overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

With a history of giving young players a chance, the Cavs have been a great place for Proctor to learn and improve his game, but his past will always be a major reason why people remember him today.

In a recent interview, the Australian was asked about his time at Duke, and whether he has a Mount Rushmore of Duke players, which is a question that many graduates are often asked about the iconic program.

But Proctor’s response was telling, as while his list was a solid one, it left out one key name that Duke fans might have something to say about.

Proctor’s list included Shane Battier, JJ Redick, current Duke head coach Jon Scheyer and after giving it much thought, he went with Cooper Flagg as number four.

While this is an impressive list, Proctor thought about going with Duke legend Christian Laettner, who is widely considered one of if not the greatest Blue Devil of all time, leading his team to national championship victories in the early 90s and winning multiple personal accolades along the way.

But the Cavs star thought against putting Laettner in there, explaining that he hasn’t played with the former star and has done so with Cooper Flagg and knows what he’s capable of.

Fans Show Mixed Feelings Towards Proctor’s List

Fans realized how personal this list was but one made an interesting point about how winning a natty gives you a different level of appreciation at Duke.
