There has been a lot of speculation around Tyran Stokes’ commitment, with multiple schools vying to land the 5-star recruit. A social media post recently claimed that John Calipari is pursuing Stokes, with the forward reciprocating the interest by visiting Arkansas. However, the rumor stemmed from a parody account of former coach and current ESPN sportscaster Jimmy Dykes.
“Just in. Tyran Stokes will be visiting Arkansas this Friday,” the post read.
“Per Source. Tyran Stokes is loving his visit to Arkansas. Coach Cal picked him up in 1 of his 7 lamborghinis instead of a blue Kia Soul like a previous Sec School…,” the parody account followed up with another post.
However, there is no truth to the rumor. Stokes has not visited Arkansas. He has, however, been heavily linked with Mark Pope’s Kentucky. He has reportedly been at the University of Kentucky campus since mid-March but hasn’t yet confirmed his commitment.
As of now, Stokes has only visited Kentucky, Kansas, and Louisville, with the Wildcats still considered the frontrunners to get the forward.
Why did Tyran Stokes reportedly dismiss Bill Self’s Kansas?
Stokes was also briefly linked with Bill Self’s Kansas. However, reports suggest Kansas is not an ideal landing spot for Stokes. Kansas is an Adidas school, but Stokes is reportedly not a fan of the brand, giving Kentucky, a Nike school, the upper hand.
Oregon, Gonzaga, and Washington were also among Tyran Stokes’ options, but Kentucky appears to have stolen a march on its rivals. Can Mark Pope finally achieve success in the transfer portal? Only time will tell.
