Tyler Betsey Transfer Portal: Top 5 Landing Spots For Kiyan Anthony’s Teammate Ft. UConn

Tyler Betsey has announced his decision to leave the Syracuse Orange after a couple of seasons. The sophomore hasn’t come into his expected potential, but with two seasons left to develop, he’s thought to have a high ceiling of development yet.

Here are some potential destinations for him this spring.

Top 5 Landing Spots For Tyler Betsey

    #5 UConn Huskies

As a prospect out of high school, Betsey was the top recruit in the state of Connecticut. Being a native of the state, it’s no surprise the UConn Huskies wanted to get him to play at Storrs. A return there could allow him to be closer to family, and it would also help Dan Hurley rebuild a roster that had problems this regular season, even as they reached the Final Four in the NCAA Tournament.

    #4 Duke Blue Devils

This would be a major geographical departure from his current location, but it would keep him in the ACC. And it wouldn’t be without its own allure for the player, as Duke is one of the most, if not the most, storied programs in college basketball. His size would make him an asset for any program looking for versatile wings.

    #3 Villanova Wildcats

This is another Big East program, but nowhere near as high-end as the other schools we have discussed so far. The chance here would be to become the heart of a lineup. It’s difficult to see Tyler Betsey as the central player of the likes of UConn or Duke, but at Villanova, he could become the man. If he wants to be center stage, the Wildcats could be the answer for him.

    #2 Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama showed this season, once more, that they have the chops to be an SEC contender and that they’re on the brink of becoming a major program. However, they were unable for the second year to repeat their Final Four feat from 2024. A player like Tyler Betsey could be one of the pieces upon which they build another significant NCAA Tournament run in the near future. It’s also a place where Betsey could be center stage.

    #1 Kansas Jayhawks

Out of high school, Bill Self wanted to recruit him for the Jayhawks. In the end, he went for Syracuse, but there could still be some interest in Kansas to get him. Kansas has had a set of disappointing NCAA Tournament appearances since they won the 2022 national title. Self would do well to bring in new blood, and Kansas is possibly the best team where Betsey could be at the heart of the lineup.
