Tom Izzo has been in the news for quite some time now. He has gone out and spoken like a true leader about things that have been bothering him in the NCAA. As a veteran of the sport, his word, just like that of other coaches, has always been valued by people. He has often come forward and defended his Michigan State players, but has also dropped some invaluable advice and harsh reality checks on them.
Izzo voiced his opinion on the NCAA’s lack of rules and regulations for player eligibility and the transfer market. The conversations started when John Calipari ranted about James Nnaji’s return to college basketball when Baylor signed him. The noise around the NCAA and pressure mounted when reputed coaches opposed player signings from the G-League.
Then, Tom Izzo admitted his “hate” for the Michigan Wolverines before their heated matchup that saw Michigan State lose. This time, he has commented on his star player, Jeremy Fears Jr., and what he expects from a player of his quality and caliber.
Jeremy got into an awkward position during Michigan State’s possession against Minnesota when he inadvertently lifted his right leg and hit a Minnesota player. Many treated this as dangerous play, which it pretty much looked like. Tom Izzo bluntly commented on this action.
“I did not see what happened in the play. I saw him get pushed, I saw his leg come up. I didn’t think he hit anybody, but if you do that, then he deserves it, I guess. But if he didn’t, I questioned it. So I mean, when you go public with something, you get beat and it’s his fault. Make no bones about it. I don’t even know if I am going to start him in the next game. I stuck up for him too because what happened in the last game, the way it happened was poorly too. Jeremy’s gotta grow up a little bit,” Tom Izzo said.
Fans React to Tom Izzo’s Reality Check For Jeremy Fears Jr.

“The Draymond way,” one fan said.
“And for the understatement of the century…. Coached Draymond too, tracks,” another remembered.
“What the hell Dray jr,” another joked.
“Oh so now he wants to acknowledge it but couldn’t when he played Michigan okay crybaby Izzo,” another blamed.
