Key Injuries and Availability for Tennessee vs. LSU Matchup

The No. 5 Tennessee Volunteers will be on the road visiting the LSU Tigers on Tuesday night. The Volunteers enter with a 22-5 overall and 9-5 SEC record, while the Tigers come in with a 14-13 record overall and have gone 3-11 in SEC play.

Ahead of the meeting in Baton Rouge, the injury report was released.

CBS Sports Insider Jon Rothstein first reported the news.

“Tennessee’s Felix Okpara (undisclosed) is probable for Tuesday’s game against LSU, per the SEC Injury Report,” Rothstein said.

Okpara has dealt with a lingering foot injury this season, although he’s appeared in all 27 of the Volunteers’ outings.

The 6’11”, 235-pound junior forward provides an interior presence for Tennessee, paramount towards their success on the defensive end of the floor as well as clearing the boards.

Along with being second on the team with 6.3 rpg, Okpara leads the team in blocks with 1.8 bpg. He also contributes 7.4 ppg, nearly all on finishes around the rim.

The Nigeria native plays 24.9 minutes a night — if he were to miss the game, it’d leave a large hole in the middle of the floor.

But the likelihood of him missing the game seems small, evidenced by his probable status and having been available for every game this season.

While LSU has only three SEC wins this season, two of which have come in the last 10 days. As a team, they’re averaging 80.6 ppg — a far higher output than what the Volunteers allow opposing teams to score at 60.9 ppg, one of the best marks in the nation and a huge reason the Volunteers are ranked No. 5 nationally.

The availability of Okpara will be key if Tennessee is able to hold off the Tigers, who will also be backed by their home crowd.
