“Not a Shot”: Collin Chandler Forced to Clarify as BYU Comment Perceived as Shot at Kentucky

BYU Cougars guard Collin Chandler has clarified to fans that he meant no harm to Kentucky or the Big Blue Nation (BBN) with his comments explaining his decision to leave the Wildcats for BYU.

Chandler sealed his move to BYU amid a mass exodus in the off-season from Kentucky, but appeared to ruffle a few feathers with his comments about why he chose the Cougars.

“Not a shot a UK AT ALL,” he clarified on X. “Love BBN and was talking about my high school experience. I love the passion that BYU has for their athletics and is what has drawn me to the 2 great programs I have played for🫶🏽”

In a now-deleted post on the “Y’s Guys Live” program, Chandler said he wanted to “be a part of a program that cares about their athletics.”

“… who have a passion for the game and for the sport, and energy. So, I think that was on perfect display, in that game, of what I was going to be experiencing as a Cougar.”

The comment drew significant backlash, with fans and experts speculating that it might have been about money and that Chandler wasn’t loyal to the Wildcats.

Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio fueled the issue, saying, “Just say it was for more money… it’s totally fine.”
