The timeline for former Iowa State Cyclones forward Milan Momcilovic’s future has just been detailed by college hoops insider Adam Zagoria, and several powerhouse college basketball programs are reportedly pursuing his services. The deadline for players to withdraw from this year’s NBA Draft and retain their collegiate eligibility is Wednesday. With the draft slated for June 23 to 24, the question for Momcilovic is whether or not he stays in college.
Right on the day of the deadline, Zagoria reported on his X/Twitter page that Momcilovic intends to withdraw from the draft. Furthermore, Zagoria reported that Momcilovic will likely decide where he will play college basketball later this weekend. The Pewaukee, Wisconsin native entered his name into the transfer portal back in mid-April.
“I’m told Milan Momcilovic will most likely decide his next landing spot over the weekend sometime,” Zagoria tweeted.
Several programs have emerged as suitors for the incoming senior, per On3. Perhaps the most intriguing one of them all is the Kentucky Wildcats, coached by Mark Pope. Throughout the offseason, Pope’s Wildcats have missed out on marquee names in both the transfer portal and from the high school ranks, including Kansas Jayhawks forward Tyran Stokes.
Momcilovic is set to enter his fourth year of collegiate hoops after spending the last three seasons under the tutelage of T.J. Otzelberger and his Cyclones program.
Which are the three other schools in contention to snag Milan Momcilovic?
On3 also reported that St. John’s Red Storm, the Louisville Cardinals, and the Arizona Wildcats are in contention to land Milan Momcilovic. All four teams vying for Momcilovic made it to the 2026 national tournament, but the Wildcats had the deepest run, reaching the Final Four. Whether that gives them the edge in the Momcilovic sweepstakes remains to be seen.
