Cam Boozer’s Duke Blue Devils extended their winning streak after the 68-63 home win against the Michigan Wolverines. They are still at the top of the Atlantic Coast with a four-game winning streak and a 25-2 overall record.
Michigan also has a 25-2 record and is the top seed in the Big Ten, but they were outplayed by the Blue Devils yesterday. Boozer, who has been exceptional this season and is averaging a double-double, added another great performance to his tally.
He dropped 18 points in 34 minutes, going 6 of 10 from the field, with 10 rebounds, seven assists, two blocks, and one turnover. He led the Blue Devils in scoring, rebounds, assists, and blocks.
He is averaging 22.6 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and 1.6 steals per game while shooting over 58% from the field and nearly 40% from the three-point line. At the post-game press conference, Michigan’s Yaxel Lendeborg was asked a question about Boozer.
He was asked about the matchup with the star forward and if he was as good as expected. Lendeborg couldn’t find words to talk about the Duke star, and before the moment could get more awkward, Morez Johnson Jr. stepped in to rescue him.
“I think it’s kinda similar to guard a lot of talented players with the physicality, him getting to his spots,” Johnson Jr. said. “I think it was just us locking in on our game plan, defensive game plan.”
Whole Johnson Jr. was answering the question originally asked to Lendeborg, the 23-year-old kept smiling. He realized how awkward the situation was, but fortunately, he had his teammate take the question instead.
Cam Boozer on What Greatness Means to Him
Cam is the son of former NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer. His father was also a part of the celebrated Redeem Team that won the gold medal at the 2008 Olympics. So, Cam has witnessed basketball greatness from a very young age.
He recently signed an NIL deal with the Jordan Brand alongside his brother, Cayden. After inking the deal, he talked about what greatness means to him.
“Greatness is about being consistent: showing up and trying to get better every day,” he said in the statement. “Being able to follow in the footsteps of great Jordan athletes who I grew up watching, carrying forward the history and culture of the brand, is special for sure.”
Based on his performance this season so far with the Blue Devils, many believe that Cam is ready for the NBA.
