Michigan’s Renaissance Continues as Top 6’7 ACC Guard Makes Dusty May Priority

Michigan Wolverines head coach Dusty May is receiving interest from Wake Forest combo guard Juke Harris after he is reported to visit the program this weekend, according to Michigan reporter Brice Marich. Harris is the No. 5 overall player and the No. 1 in his position among transfer portal players, according to 247Sports.

Harris measures 6-foot-7 and weighs 200 pounds. He’s coming off a great season, averaging 21.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.3 steals per game. It was a breakout year for Harris, as the season before, he only averaged 6.1 points per game. The ACC’s most improved player shot 44.4% from the field, including 33.2% from the 3-point line.

Dusty May have reportedly already met with Harris and is a serious contender to land the combo guard. Harris would be perfect for Michigan, which needs a high-usage scorer to replace departing stars. As we saw in last season’s championship run, Michigan has always liked versatile wings with playmaking capability.

It’s important to note that Harris has also entered the NBA draft to test if he gets selected.

Dusty May Reaffirms His Loyalty To Michigan

After winning the national championship with several transfers, Dusty May’s coaching pedigree has been hailed by everyone. The head coach would probably be called for coaching vacancy in college basketball and even the NBA but the head coach is going to stay back in Ann Arbor.

May shared that his son, Eli, is currently a sophomore and is also involved with Michigan men’s basketball as a student manager. The head coach confirmed he is not going anywhere since the family has finally found a place they can call home after moving around a lot in the initial part of his coaching career.

“I think for all of those Michigan fans, they have nothing to worry about. Eli (May’s son) is a sophomore in college right now and I can’t see any scenario where I would take my son away from graduating from the University of Michigan and sharing this experience (Eli is a student manager with the team),” May said.

“We moved around a lot when we were young, Rich, and to find a place we’ve settled in and that feels like home, and we’re very honored to be a part of this place. If there’s ever a time where we don’t feel like we can get it done here, that’s when it’s time to go. Otherwise, I think we can be consistent national championship contenders. And I love it at Michigan—very very proud to represent all of you.”

It remains to be seen how May uses this transfer portal to address his roster and remain a title contender for next season.
