The NCAA National Championship Tournament, also known as March Madness, is almost here, which means that teams are already scrambling to rack up as many wins as possible so they could be considered for the tournament. While teams like Duke, Arizona, UConn and more are just maintaining their respective spots, others are already in must-win situations as they face possible eliminations from the annual tournament.
There are several teams in a must-win situation in action ahead of the March Madness situation, and they include among the First In and First Out teams. College basketball insider Jon Rothstein revealed which teams will be playing today:
- TCU (At Texas Tech)
- VCU (George Mason)
- Missouri (At Oklahoma)
- Texas A&M (Kentucky)
- West Virginia (At Kansas State)
- Cincinnati (BYU)
- San Diego State (At Boise State)
- Virginia Tech (Boston College)
- Auburn (LSU)
- UCLA (Nebraska)
Of the teams Rothstein listed, Missouri is the likeliest to make it, though they will be facing a good team in Oklahoma. The same can be said for UCLA, which will be taking on powerhouse Nebraska. A team that is one elimination watch is Auburn, which will be taking on LSU on Tuesday, as the Tigers continue their freefall and might get eliminated from contention.
Several teams, such as Seton Hall, are possibly eliminated already after losses earlier this week. More teams are expected to join them as college teams all over the country play their last few games of the regular season.
March Madness Bubble Teams: Probable First Four In and Last Four Out
Even though Auburn is at a free fall at the moment, the Tigers can still make March Madness, though they will probably have to win against the LSU Tigers to do so. USA Today has now released its current projections for March Madness and they have listed Auburn in the “Last Four In,” along with UCLA, Santa Clara and New Mexico.
However, it is not looking good for some teams that have had stinging losses recently, as the newspaper has listed Indiana, Virginia Commonwealth, California, and San Diego State as the first four out. This means that they will probably be eliminated from the tournament shortly before it begins.
