Tommy Lloyd’s Arizona and Bill Self’s Kansas are set to clash in a highly anticipated showdown, as the March Madness is just around the corner. Arizona has been absolutely flying this season with a 13-2 record in the Big 12 and 26-2 overall. They have lost just twice all season, and those losses came against Kansas and Texas Tech. So, revenge would certainly be on the mind for Arizona as they meet Kansas again.
Kansas, on the other hand, has had a topsy-turvy season. However, they have still held their own and have been consistent overall. Bill Self’s men have an 11-4 record in the Big 12 and 21-7 overall. Their biggest concern has been their star man, Darryn Peterson’s availability.
There has been a lot of noise around Peterson’s injuries, mentality, and willingness to play for the team. Peterson recently subbed himself out, which surprised even Bill Self. Although Peterson has spoken about his commitment to Kansas, this incident sparked debate.
Another freshman who has gotten a lot of attention for his quality basketball is Arizona’s Koa Peat. In 25 games this season, he has averaged 13.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists. However, he recently had some problems with an injury. Peat suffered a muscle strain in his lower leg against Texas Tech and missed the last three games.
Now, just before the much-anticipated rematch, Tommy Lloyd and Arizona fans have received some great news. Peat will play against Kansas on Saturday.
Fans React To Koa Peat Returning For Kansas Showdown
Fans online were excited to learn about Koa Peat’s return, as they could not witness Peat vs. Peterson due to the Kansas star’s injury.
“Coming back to cop an L damn,” one Kansas fan said.
“Peat’s return could shift Arizona’s defensive intensity immediately. That matchup just became much tougher for Kansas,” another claimed.
“Missed three games, but the timing of this return? Perfect. Wildcats vs Kansas just became must-watch basketball,” another commented.
“They want to risk injury to beat KU, while harming their post season hopes,” another expressed worry.
“March about to get messy again,” one fan said.
