NC State has been making waves on the recruiting front, as the Wolfpack have secured a very important piece from Slovenia, the country where Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic is from. New head coach Justin Gainey has now secured his own Slovenian star in 6’9 power forward Robert Jurković. He played in the Adriatic League for Slovenian squad Ilirija last season, and this one is a big addition.
At 23, he will be coming in as a freshman who averaged averaged 8.3 points and 3.6 rebounds per game for Ilirija. He is a good scorer too, averaging 54.5% from the field and 36% from behind the arc during his first season in the Adriatic League. Now he will be taking his talents to NC State where he hopes that the American game could improve his skills.
Robert Jurković is a needed addition, as Gainey needs some backup in the front court. In addition, the big Slovenian could also improve their perimeter play, as a big man who can shoot the three is always a good addition. He will play for the Wolfpack for the 2026-2027 season as they hope to actually get into the NCAA Tournament after falling short last season.
How Is NC State’s Class of 2026 High School Recruitment Going So Far?
With the coaching change, Justin Gainey has fallen a bit short on the local US recruitment with just two new recruits at NC State from the Class of 2026. In addition to Robert Jurković, NC State also has four-star small forward Cole Cloer and three-star point guard Kingston Whitty.
Cloer has already enrolled and is expected to help out in the wings, while Whitty has just committed and has not yet signed with the school. The Wolfpack still have a long way to go in terms of their recruitment, as they are No. 45 overall according to 247Sports in terms of the Class of 2026’s recruitment. This still has not yet taken Robert Jurković’s recruitment into consideration though, so it is possible that their rank could go up.
