Duke Blue Devils coach Jon Scheyer‘s most recent success puts him up there with a legendary former college basketball coach, who is now a renowned executive in the NBA. On Monday, March 2, Scheyer and his 2025-26 Blue Devils team were pitted against Will Wade’s NC State Wolfpack at the latter’s home court, the Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Scheyer and Co. beat the Wolfpack in front of a hostile NC State crowd by a staggering 29 points, 93-64. This gives Scheyer his 117th victory as a head coach, with just 24 losses so far to his name.
With this latest win, he has tied former Butler Bulldogs coach and current Boston Celtics general manager Brad Stevens for the most wins by a Division 1 coach in just their first four seasons.
As mentioned, Scheyer is currently in his fourth year at the helm of the Durham, North Carolina-based program’s coaching staff. So far in the 2025-26 campaign, he has led the Blue Devils to a current overall record of 28-2 (16-1 ACC) and are consensus top team in the ACC standings.
They will now look to close their regular season schedule strong with a win over their rivals, the North Carolina Tar Heels, on Saturday, March 7. UNC gave Duke their only loss to date in conference play.
Jon Scheyer Gave His Thoughts On Winning This Year’s ACC Regular Season Title
The Duke Blue Devils’ win over the NC State Wolfpack earned them the 2026 ACC regular season championship outright.
During the post-game press conference, Jon Scheyer started it off by giving his thoughts on their run all together. For Scheyer, he is extremely proud of his team for getting to this point in the 2025-26 season, which is a testament to the growth that each member of the squad has shown.
“I’m really proud of this team. To win the ACC outright, 28 wins at this point in the year, and just their professionalism, their approach, they’ve been an absolute joy to coach. We talked about it after Saturday, it’s great to get a share, that means a lot, but let’s get this thing outright…We put nine guys on the floor that impact winning, and I’m proud to see the individual growth of everybody on the team,” Scheyer said.
Star freshman Cameron Boozer led the way for the Blue Devils with 26 points and 9 rebounds against the Wolfpack.
