Kansas State Wildcats coach Jerome Tang has been punished by his program. He recently threw them under the bus after a regular-season loss. On Sunday, Feb. 15, Kansas State University announced, through a slew of reports, including that of @theeverythingu on Instagram, that they have relieved Tang of his duties as the school’s men’s basketball team’s main tactician.
This comes after Tang was visibly upset about how his players fared in their game against coach Wes Miller‘s Cincinnati Bearcats in front of their home crowd at Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan, Kansas on Wednesday, Feb. 11. Tang and the Wildcats lost by a staggering 29 points, 91-62, and during the post-game press conference, Tang called out his team for their lack of effort.
“Kansas State has fired Jerome Tang. Per @theeverythingu, it is for cause, meaning they will not pay him his buyout. There will be disputes both ways…and this will be crazy to see what ends up happening 🤯,” @theeverythingu on Instagram captioned with an emoji.
As Tang’s time with Kansas State comes to an end, his last game as the main shot-caller of the program also ended in a loss, this time to coach Kelvin Sampson’s Houston Cougars on Saturday, Feb. 14, by 14 points, 78-64, in away territory, the Fertitta Center in Houston, Texas. With this loss, the Wildcats are now in the midst of a disappointing stretch, as they’ve won only one of their last 12 games.
Jerome Tang Said His Players Don’t Deserve To Wear Kansas State Wildcats Uniforms
In the post-game presser where Jerome Tang publicly called out his players, he said that they do not deserve to wear Kansas State Wildcats uniforms.
Tang was frustrated with his players after the loss, but his comments towards them were met with criticism by fans.
“ This was embarrassing. These dudes do not deserve to wear this uniform. There will be very few of them in it next year, like I’m embarrassed for the university. I’m embarrassed for our fans, our student section, you know, it is just ridiculous. We got practice at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning, and we will get this thing right,” Tang said.
“Jerome Tang was not happy after getting blown out by Cincinnati at home,” @cbssportscbb on Instagram wrote.
