Jalen Reece Transfer Portal: Top 3 Potential Landing Spots for LSU Guard

Jalen Reece has decided to enter the transfer portal after just one season with the LSU Tigers. The 6’ guard played 32 games for LSU last season, starting in 10 games. Overall, he didn’t have a great run with the Tigers.

Reece averaged nearly 24 minutes per outing. He scored 5.8 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game while shooting over 35% from the field and 30% from the three-point line. Reece’s production significantly improved during the final stretch.

In his last eight games, he averaged 12 points and 6.8 assists while shooting over 37% from three. Reece showed the potential he had, and he could’ve developed into a real asset for the Tigers for several years.

Earlier today, the freshman guard announced that he was entering the portal in search of better opportunities. It’s worth noting that he is keeping his option open for an LSU return. But in case he leaves, he will have plenty of options to choose from.

    Jalen Reece’s Potential Landing Spots

UCF Knights would be an ideal team for Reece. The Knights made it to the NCAA Tournament this year, but lost to UCLA in the first round. They lost to Arizona in the Big 12 Conference. The Knights need a long-term solution at the point guard position.

Reece showed flashes of brilliance in the last stretch with LSU, and with enough time playing and developing under Johnny Dawkins, he can become a highly capable, pro-ready point guard.

The Florida Gators made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, where they lost to Iowa. They were the best team in the Southeastern Conference with the best record, while the Tigers finished at the bottom.

In addition to the opportunity of playing under Todd Golden, Reece will benefit from the conference experience if he joins the Gators.

Reece played one of his best games this season against the Ole Miss Rebels. The Rebels, like most teams, are losing key players to the portal. He is the right player for the kind of game Chris Beard likes to play, and adding Reece to the squad could benefit the Rebels next season.

There will be plenty of options for Reece because he still has a long way to go, and he has a very promising future. It’s just a matter of what he prefers at this stage of his career. If development as a guard is at the top of his priority list, any of the three teams mentioned above could be his next destination.
