Is Brad Underwood on Kansas State’s Radar?

Basketball analyst Jeff Goodman said that Illinois fans have nothing to worry about, as he believes Brad Underwood won’t leave the program for Kansas State.

“Not that I even need to tweet this, but don’t worry Illinois fans,” Goodman wrote. “Brad Underwood isn’t going to Kansas State.”

Underwood signed a multi-year contract extension with the University of Illinois Fighting Illini men’s basketball program that runs through 2030-31. Underwood has led the program to new heights, including multiple NCAA Tournament appearances, Big Ten titles, and strong overall success.

Meanwhile, long before becoming the head coach of Illinois, Underwood played college basketball at Kansas State from 1984 to 1986. He was a guard for the Wildcats after transferring from Independence Community College. He played two seasons under legendary coach Jack Hartman and graduated from K-State with a degree in radio and television communications.

He returned to the program in 2006-07 to take the role of Director of Operations. He was promoted to assistant coach from 2007 to 2011 and associate head coach in 2011–12 under head coach Frank Martin.

While serving on the coaching staff of the Wildcats, the program achieved multiple 20-win seasons and made NCAA Tournament appearances. He is known to have played a big role when it comes to recruit high rated talents.

Currently with the Illinois Fighting Illini, Underwood has led the squad to a 21-5 record, including their latest win against the Indiana Hoosiers. They are second in the Big Ten behind Michigan with a 12-3 conference record.
