The Indiana Hoosiers finished the season with an 18-14 record and missed March Madness, which means, the team has plenty to work on for next season. With their seniors leaving and a few undergrads expected to enter the transfer portal, IU is expected to dip a lot into the transfer portal. The question is, who should the team target?
This season, Indiana lacked a true center, so a big man who could shore up the rebounding could be a good target. In addition, its best scorer, senior guard Lamar Wilkerson, is about to leave, which means it also must look for a new scorer. For now, there might be a few players available as soon as the transfer portal opens on April 7.
Three Players the Indiana Hoosiers Could Target From the Transfer Portal
Finley Bizjack, SG From Butler
Indiana needs scoring with its top scorer about to graduate, and picking up Butler Bulldogs shooting guard Finley Bizjack would be a good move. He led the Bulldogs in scoring this season and averaged 17.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game during his time there.
His defense needs a bit of work, but he has shown that he could score, showing much improvement on that matter during all three years at Butler. This could answer the Hoosiers’ need for a good scorer at the very least, and he also brings some experience and leadership.
Neoklis Avdalas, SG From Virginia Tech
The “Greek Freak” was one of the Hokies’ best scorers this season, averaging 12.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game. Defensively, he could still get some work done, but he is a freshman and getting him to commit could make him a good long-term choice for the Hoosiers. He is also a decent rebounder and passer, which could lead to an overall improvement for the Hoosiers in the long run.
Andrew McKeever, C From St. Mary’s
He is a seven-footer who could move and is not afraid to battle for the boards. This sophomore big man stands at 7-foot-3 and averaged 8.2 points and 9.2 rebounds per game, which means he could do double-doubles on the regular if he gets the chance. This year, the Hoosiers lacked the size with no true center, and what better way to remedy that than with a big seven-foot center.
