North Carolina Tar Heels coach Hubert Davis recently had a glowing statement for one of his key players who made a marquee play that led to overall team success. On Saturday, coach Davis and his 2025-26 Tar Heels team went up against coach Jon Scheyer’s Duke Blue Devils in the former’s home arena.
Fortunately for Davis and the rest of the UNC faithful, fourth-year standout Seth Trimble nailed a crucial 3-pointer that gave his team the win. During the post-game press conference, Davis was asked about his thoughts on Trimble as a whole and the impact he has made in the program. For Davis, Trimble’s loyalty to the North Carolina-based program is something to remember forever.

With Trimble’s game-winning shot, the Tar Heels were able to defeat their rivals 71-68. The Tar Heels now improve to an overall record of 19-4 (7-3 ACC), while Duke falls to 21-2 (10-1 ACC).
North Carolina now prepares for its next matchup against the Miami Hurricanes on Tuesday in the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida.

For the tenured tactician, he’s still processing the shot made by his senior as he deemed it to be the perfect shot. It seems as though Trimble has cemented his legacy in the North Carolina Tar Heels long history of iconic moments, especially with how the home crowd reacted.
“I’m still a little numb right now…It happened to the perfect person. He should be celebrated. What he’s meant to me, what he’s meant to this team and this program,” Davis shared.
