“Nervous and Scared” Hubert Davis Makes Big Admission on UNC’s Future Without Seth Trimble

North Carolina will honor Seth Trimble, Hubert Davis’ son, Elijah Davis, and three senior managers on Tuesday’s Senior Night. The Tar Heels will take on the Clemson Tigers in their final regular-season game at Chapel Hill.

Ahead of the game, on his “Hubert Davis Live” radio show, the Tar Heels head coach feels “nervous and scared” to learn that Trimble might be his last accomplished player to stay at one institution for all four years.

“My hope is he’s not the last, but I’m nervous and scared that he might be the last accomplished player to ever stay four years at one institution… that’s going to be emotional. He was part of my first recruiting class,” the head coach said.

Trimble committed to North Carolina over Michigan and was part of Davis’ first recruiting class in 2022. As a freshman, he averaged 1.8 points in 9.8 minutes per game. He grew in his role as a sophomore, averaging 17.1 minutes and 5.2 points per game. After his sophomore season, Trimble thought about leaving North Carolina and even entered the transfer portal, but decided to return to Chapel Hill for his junior year.

In the 2025-26 season, Davis is averaging 14.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game.

Seth Trimble Reason Behind Senior Speeches Returning, says Hubert Davis

Since Hubert Davis took over the Tar Heels program in 2021, the seniors were honored in the pregame ceremony on Senior Nights. There were no postgame speeches. However, that will change this Tuesday and Seth Trimble is a big reason for it.

Davis revealed on his radio show that Trimble approached him to speak after his Senior Night game.

“[The change] was led by Seth,” Davis said during Monday’s radio show. “Seth wanted to, and he asked if, at the end of the game, that he could say some words. And I said, ‘Yes, absolutely.’ Elijah wanted to (as well).”

On Tuesday at the Smith Center, the Senior ceremony will be held around 6:30-6:40 p.m. before the 7 p.m. tipoff. Then, after the game is completed, Elijah Davis and Seth Trimble will be given the platform to share a few words.

Senior night speeches were started after head coach Roy Williams came to Chapel Hill in the 2003-04 season.
